Steven R. Hehn

Steven Hehn, 73, of Des Plaines; Beloved Husband & Soulmate of Carol for 48+ years; Father of Jennifer, Joseph (Suzanne), (the late Jessica Marie) and Nicholas (Linda); Grandfather to Adorable Calvin, Godfather, Brother, Uncle Tease & Friend to many.

Here's the thing you've gotta understand about Steve; his dedication and adoration to his family, his craft, and his simple joys of life were unrivaled. Steve was not only a master carpenter but also the hardest working man any of us have ever known. He was a true artist who loved his work and in his spare time Steve could often be found working on the homes of his loved ones. He passed away surrounded by his family on November 9, 2021 in the house that he built with his bare hands.

Steve was the King of Christmas, so much so that people drove by the home ogling over the spectacle of decoration. The inside trumped the outside as it looked like a Christmas store without price tags. He was a Patriot, a Marine, and a Viet Nam Veteran. Steve was a consummate die-hard Bears fan. He loved dining out for a great meal with his family- Gibson's Steak House was his favorite. A Bloody Mary was his drink of choice and Hallmark was his channel of choice. Steve was as generous as they come and never expected anything in return. he also loved hosting and did the best BBQ this side of the Des Plaines River!

His true passion was spending as much time with his adored family as possible. He sacrificed so much for them, especially his children. To say that Steve will be missed is a profound understatement. Our world is a lot prettier, happier, and brighter because of him and it will take us all a great deal of time to heal. We know in our hearts he is right here with us every step of the way pouring his love and guidance into our lives until we all meet again.

We love you Steve, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Godfather, Uncle & Beloved.

Family and friends will meet at St. Martha Church 8523 Georgiana Ave. Morton Grove on Friday Nov. 19th for 11:30 Funeral Mass. Interment All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines. 

Following his burial, everyone is invited  to meet at Beacon Tap 1374 Lee St. in Des Plaines for a Celebration of Steve's Life. Please come ready to share your favorite memories.
