On February 20, 2020, Madeleine Simon passed away peacefully in her home in Morton Grove at the age of 86. Madeleine was born in the small hamlet of Binsfeld, Luxembourg across town from her future husband Steve who would immigrate to America as a bachelor in 1954. In 1959, Madeleine joined Steve and the couple married that year. Madeleine loved to garden and was a marvelous chef. She put her passion for cooking into running the family catering business at the American Legion in Morton Grove where the couple lived and raised their children, Maybelle and Steven. Madeleine and her family enjoyed traveling across America as well as returning to Luxembourg for frequent visits. Madeleine loved America, but she was also proud of her roots and understood the value of passing that sense of heritage on to her children. She was a loving wife and mother and particularly enjoyed the company of friends.
