James R. Meek, 96, of Morton Grove, beloved husband of Marian, nee Leider; loving father of Jim (Maxine), Nancie (John) Tracy, Joyce (Bob) Reid, Gene (Diane), John Dianne, Pam (Mick) Becker, Janice (Scott) Harty, Deb (Pete) Conti, Bill (Tina), and Mary (Ted) Stenger; dear grandfather of 22; cherished great grandfather of 22; preceded in death by his parents, brother Fred, and grandsons Gene and John. Jim was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Fred and Mabel Meek. He joined the Navy at 17 years of age during World War II, and proudly served his country. Jim married Marian in 1947, and resided in Morton Grove, Illinois for most of their lives together. Jim worked for Illinois Bell until his retirement at age 57 to spend the rest of his life with his wife to enjoy "the good life." Jim's Catholic faith was deeply important during his life, attending church regularly. Jim enjoyed volunteering at his parish, serving as mass commentator for decades. Funeral from Simkins Funeral Home 6251 Dempster St. Morton Grove, IL 60053 Wednesday, August 24th at 9:30 a.m. to St. John Brebeuf Church. Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
