Obituary
Dawn Marie (Olander) Geraty, aged 56, was a beloved Wife, Mother, Daughter, and Sister who passed away on April 3rd, 2023. Dawn was born on September 17th, 1966 to Sharon and Jack Olander and raised in Morton Grove IL with her siblings John and Carlene. She graduated from Niles West High School where she made lifelong friends, and became a member of the five of hearts with Chris, Peggy, Amy, and Gail.
In 1993, Dawn was hired to the Antioch Police department where she worked for the next 23 years and retired as the first female Sergeant in department history. This is also when Dawn met her beloved husband, Dennis Geraty, when he backed her up on a call. Dennis and Dawn got married on May 5th, 1998, and welcomed their first child together, Jackalyn Geraty, a year later.
Dawn is survived by her loving husband Dennis Geraty, beloved daughter Jackalyn Geraty, caring son Ryan (Christina) Geraty, cherished grandson Jackson Geraty, beloved siblings John (Dana) Olander and Carlene Olander, caring nieces and nephews Zachary, Kaleigh (Nebojsa), Taylor, Ashley, and Cody, and her loving mother Sharon Olander.
A celebration of Dawn Geraty’s life will be held on Wednesday April 12th from 4pm-8pm at Simkins Funeral Home 6251 Dempster St. Morton Grove, IL. A funeral service to follow on Thursday April 13th starting at 11am at the funeral home. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
