Nancy J.
Lanning
Jul 15, 1938 — Oct 1, 2026
Morton Grove
Nancy J. Lanning, 88, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026. Most of her life, she lived in Morton Grove where she dedicated herself to serving her community. It's no surprise Nancy captured the eye and heart of her late husband, Ronald W. Lanning, former Deputy Chief of Police.
With her dog Tacos by her side, Nancy could be seen driving around town in her red Suburban truck. She chauffered friends and neighbors to appointments, hauled decorations for events at the senior center or on her way to one of the many organizations where she volunteered her time.
Nancy wore many hats. She was a volunteer member of Emergency Services, a bookkeeper, crossing guard, Garden Club member, election judge, concerned citizen at village board meetings, and long time member of The Morton Grove Community Church.
Nancy's most cherished role was loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, including grand and great nieces and nephews. Little sister to the late Leah Jennetten, David Falknor, Mary Ellen Bray, and survived by her brother Mack Falknor.
One of Nancy's favorite places to volunteer was The Niles Township Food Pantry. Donations can be made in her memory at givebutter.com/ntfoodpantry.
Arrangements and services private. For information, Simkins Funeral Home (847) 965-2500
