Margaret Mary
(Kneafsey) Mccue
October 8, 1932 – June 22, 2025
Margaret "Margie" Mary McCue, nee Kneafsey, 92, of Chicago, formerly of Morton Grove. Beloved mother of Terry (Dan) Stubing, John McCue, and the late Kevin (Ellen) McCue, and Frankie McCue; loving grandmother of Caitlyn (Cullen) Dulaney, Cory (fiancé Alyssa Giaimo) Stubing, John Milan McCue, and Jacob Frank McCue; dear great grandmother of Waylon Dulaney; former wife of the late Frank; fond sister of Tom Kneafsey, John Kneafsey, Mike Kneafsey, Eileen Philbin, and the late Winkie Cebulski.
Margie was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She is leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. Born in Chicago to Michael and Beatrice Kneafsey, both from Ireland. Margie graduated from St. Scholastica Catholic High School and attended Mundelein College. She was a grammar school teacher at St. Viator, in Chicago.
She then met Frank J. McCue Jr. and was married in 1957. Margie dedicated her life to being a mother, housewife and partner in McCue Marble Co. After raising 4 wonderful children, she decided to go back to school and earn her Realtor license. For many years she worked at Century 21 in Morton Grove and Glenview. During this time she was also very involved in her community- serving as President of the Morton Grove Women's Club, participating in the Morton Grove Bowling League, and being a member of the Red Hat Society and Irish American Heritage Center. She also volunteered at Misericordia Home in Chicago.
She spent 8 years taking care of her grandchildren, Caitlyn and Cory, 2 days a week. She loved watching them grow up and going on all kinds of adventures with them.
After her daycare days she started "D-Clutter" with her sister, Eileen Philbin, running estate sales for many years. Every family member probably still has an item that was gifted to them from the estate sale days.
The sisters decided it was time for a change and started another business- walking dogs. The Irish Sitters became a high end dog nanny service. This new adventure blossomed into a thriving business of house sitting and staying overnight with many different animals in their care. Eileen and Margie share so many hysterical tales from this chapter of their lives.
Margie loved being a snowbird, spending winters in Florida with her son, John and her two grandsons, Johnny & Jacob. She was one of the kids in Florida and loved to tag along on their 4-wheeling adventures.
Margie truly had a beautiful life, filled with family, friends and travel. She had a zest for life, contagious laugh and a great Irish wit about her! Margie is gone but she will never be forgotten.
Slán go fóill (goodbye for now, in Irish)
