Obituary

Kathleen O'Grady Allen was born in Chicago on April 2nd 1943 to Anthony and Anne O'Grady. She grew up in Chicago's Beverly neighborhood and attended St. Margaret of Scotland grade school and Longwood Academy high school where she met her lifelong friends, "The 10 o'clock girls". Together they shared decades of giggles, adventures and made wonderful memories. Kathleen married Denby Allen in 1971 and had two children, Tara and Jason. She worked tirelessly from a young age and enjoyed a successful career as a recruiter for over three decades with Hewitt Associates.

Kathleen was known for her strength and as a force of nature, but she also had a streak of spontaneity that kept family and friends smiling and always on their toes. More recently, she enjoyed her role as grandma and loved spending time with her six granddaughters, especially during their early years.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Anne, brother Tony O'Grady, and sister-in-law, Margaret O'Grady. She is survived by her children Tara (Michael) Gallagher and Jason Denby (Mandy) Allen, her granddaughters Delaney, Ainsley, Margaret Tierney and Ailsa Gallagher, and Grace and Charlotte Allen, fond nephews John and Michael O'Grady and many close cousins and friends.

Memorial visitation will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 1775 Grove Street Glenview, IL 60025 on Monday, April 13th from 9:15 a.m. until the time of the memorial funeral mass at 10:00 am. For more information, please call Simkins Funeral Home (847) 965-2500 .
