Helen Silas, 86, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2017, after a long illness. A beloved and matriarchal figure to her son, her sister, and her many nieces and nephews, she placed a premium on loyalty and love of family, which love and loyalty were returned in kind. She is survived by her loving sister Pauline (George) Nahabedian, and her adoring nieces and nephews, Patia (Lou) Ruffolo, Tom (Mike Stornello) Konopiots, Michael Nahabedian, Tom (Jane) Nahabedian, Victoria (Steve) Lopez, Patrice (Olga Matarazzo) Kouzios, and Lou (Keri) Konopiots. She is preceded in death by her much-loved son, Mark, her brother Tony (the late Marie) Konopiots, and her sister Marge (the late Dimitri) Kouzios. Visitation at Simkins Funeral Home 6251 Dempster St. Morton Grove, IL 60053 Monday, September 25th from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Cremation private.
