Dolores Borst, 97, resident of West Dundee, previous resident of Northbrook, and long-time resident of Morton Grove, IL., passed away peacefully on the morning of July 16, 2026, following a courageous battle with multiple health issues.
Dolores was born on January 19, 1929, to Paul and Marguerite Krucker of the Edgewater neighborhood in Chicago, IL. She was the dear sister of Paul (the late Nancy) Krucker. Dolores married her beloved Joe Borst on October 14, 1950, and together they shared 72 beautiful years of marriage until Joe’s death in the Spring of 2023. During those years, they shared in the joys and blessings of raising a family of five children, Jody (the late Michael) McKeown, Steve (Nancy), Collette (David) Olsen, Tom (Beth), and Nancy (Frank) Englert. Dolores was also the proud and loving grandmother of six grandchildren, Katie (James), Sara (Eli), Paul (Jessica), Kristen (Luke), Erik and Mitchell, and a cherished Gigi (great grandma) to five children, Joseph, Ethan, Kai, Addison, and Bri.
Dolores grew up in the Catholic faith community at her local parish, St. Ita’s. After graduating from Immaculata High School, she attended Mundelein College in Chicago, where she earned a degree in Microbiology. Her professional career included positions at G.D. Searle, Baxter Travenol, and Cole-Parmer. But the vocation she cherished most was being the beloved wife of Joe and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family.
Dolores had a special devotion to our Blessed Mother, Mary. Family members always knew their prayer intentions would be fervently offered through the three Rosaries she prayed daily.
May Dolores rest in peace with Jesus, our Blessed Mother, and the angels. We will miss her motherly words of wisdom and her sweet smiling face.
Visitation will be at St. Martha Catholic Church, 8523 Georgiana Avenue, Morton Grove, IL 60053 on Saturday, July 25th, from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. Christian burial will take place at All Saints Cemetery, 700 N. River Road, Des Plaines.
Donations in honor of Dolores may be made at Misericordia.com, or sent to Misericordia Heart of Mercy, 6300 North Ridge, Chicago, IL 60660.
