Obituary

Reverend Doctor Bruce T. Anderson passed away to be with his savior Jesus on August 24, 2026. He was born on September 16, 1941, and was a pastor at The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Niles, Illinois for 51 years. He was also an accomplished jazz bass player in the Chicago area, and nationwide. He began the celebrated jazz vespers series at Resurrection in the late 80's, and hosted some of the country's most reknown players on a way that honored them and the Lord. He was a partner with Music Serving the Word and their mission and witness, and beloved friend and fellow musicianto so very many. His life was the example of his deep faith, and it inspired sovery many others in theirs. It will continue to.

He was preceded by his wife of 56 years, Karen anderson, nee Thomas, and is survived by his daughter Constance "Connie" Anderson; grandchildren Hannah (Scott) Powers, nee Vander Pal, Sulaiman Khwaja, Sophia Khwaja, Selma Khwaja, and Isaac (Breana) Khwaja; great grandchild Briere Powers.

His life will continue to inspire, as he enjoys the reward of the new life, the one he served, promised. Thank you all for your love and prayers at this time. You will be in our prayers. Visitation at Simkins Funeral Home 6251 Dempster St. Morton Grove, IL 60053 on Monday, October 5th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interment at Bronswood Cemetery will be held privately. A memorial service and celebration of life will take place at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Libertyville at a later date. Memorials may be made to Pacific Gardens Mission 1458 S.
