Robert G. Wagner, 68, of Morton Grove, was a charismatic, charming, funny, and above all, a kind loving soul who lit up the room, but he was not Robert G. Wagner. To his family and friends, he was Bob, Bobbo, B.O.B. "Bank Of Bob", Daddy Wags, "Poor Bob", and a self-proclaimed "sensitive beast". Bob served in the air force during the Viet Nam War, and was an Evanston firefighter for 35 years before retiring in 2009. Bob loved to spend time with his family and friends. Bob's hobbies included sports, television shows and movies, shuffling throughout hardware stores without his cell phone, and collecting construction tools. Bob would always say, "a rested fireman is a ready fireman." Bob is resting now, , and will be ready to greet us all one day with outstretched arms, and his patented laugh, Bob is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gayle; his three children, Amanda, Rob, and Amalya (fiance Tom Sobieraj); brother Herbert (the late Sharon) Wagner; and other family Karen Amato, Glenn Amato, Gary (Melissa) Amato, and Vicki Petrzilka; uncle of Nick, Annie, Mikey, and Joey. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edella, and his in-laws, Peach and Corki. Family and friends will meet for a memorial mass on Saturday, April 7th at 11 a.m. at St. Martha Church 8523 Georgiana Ave. Morton Grove, IL 60053. In lieu of flowers, donations to Bob's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN38105 appreciated. (847) 965-2500
